World Wide Antique Show - Vintage Gone Green

Denver (forte advertising) – The World Wide Antique Show brings Eco-Chic to the Denver Merchandise Mart at I-25 and 58th Avenue. As communities and homes are steadily becoming more environmentally conscious the World Wide Antique Show introduces this as a fantastic way to shop green this spring. The show features a diverse selection of vintage pieces and collectibles from around the world that timelessly integrate form and function without depleting our current environmental resources, all under the idea that vintage items are “designed in the past, desired in the present.” This Eco-Chic theme even transcends into the World Wide Antique Show’s promotional development, printing all the show cards on recycled paper using soy inks, which are better for our environment.

Guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase from over 150 art and antique aficionados who will be displaying amazing pieces that combine all genres of vintage items, antiques and collectibles. Every collector’s taste will be met from furniture, 20th Century design, Asian art and antiquities to jewelry, paintings, posters, decorative art and sculpture, plus much more. The show always includes new dealers and familiar favorites presenting incredibly diverse and solid quality items. You will also find books, dolls, postcards, one-of-a-kind art glass, quality linen and bedding.
.
“With many people looking to invest in something tangible, this show is ideal with the selections we have from vintage jewelry to English silver,” commented Christine Guedea, World Wide Antique Shows Manager. “And the fact that they can feel good about the recycling of “history” becomes the true definition of eco-chic.”

SHOW HOURS are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is $8 and good for all three days. Parking is free. Food and beverages are available onsite. For more information call 303-292-6278 or visit the website www.wwantiqueshows.com

Two new websites for Colorado Truckers

Press Release

Get Loaded

Two new websites have been launched that Cargo, Freight and Courier companies and their customers in Colorado and other U.S. States can use Free of Charge.

The sites have been specifically designed and developed over a 2 year period to help all types of road-load carriers and their customers meet on a common platform where each can list their load-space availability or requirements. The potential for site users to reduce costs and increase profit cannot be underestimated and many will see the services the sites offer as a means towards achieving greater efficiencies.

With so much focus on the Carbon Footprint it may not be too long before the freight industry comes under the spotlight even more and is forced down the road into re-thinking journey planning and load organization in order to minimize the transportation of too much ‘fresh air . Whilst road-load carriers continue to face spiraling costs in terms of higher fuel, insurance, tax and vehicle maintenance costs leading to even greater erosion of already tight margins, their customers continue to expect competitive pricing. The sites are:

www.freightexx.com

www.globalfreightfinder.com

Comments Steve Rowlands who designed and launched the sites; Working in the field of Project Management I had opportunities to fully understand the plight of the road haulage industry and quickly realized how competitive it is whilst appreciating the never-ending search it has to fill load-space. Anyone travelling by road anywhere in the world can’t help but notice haulage vehicles that are empty or only part-loaded; in essence carrying ‘fresh air’ that has to be paid for with fuel that continues to increase in cost which can be crippling in terms of over-inflated operating costs. With some road-haulage vehicles at best achieving only 5-9 miles per gallon, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize how much it was costing the carrier to haul space and realized that I had to do something to support the industry and it’s customers. The rest is history and the sites were born.

I encourage everyone reading this article who has any load-space available to sell or is looking for space to ship single or multiple consignments no matter how big or small, to list their details on the sites for all to see. While www.freightexx.com is the road-load search site that’s driven by it’s members, I’m hoping that both sites will be well received and used for the benefit of all.

New site for car and truck lovers

Do you think about cars, pickups and trucks every day? Do you read about the new models, watch automotive programs on television, and dream about the perfect vehicle? Can you name a vehicle’s make and model from 100 yards away in traffic? Maybe you like playing on four wheels in the dirt and mud?

This site is for off-roaders, four-wheelers, restorers and antique-lovers. ColoradoCarsandTrucks.com is the welcoming place for the enthusiast who wants to let friends and neighbors know about the latest road trip, whether on or off the highway. It’s a place where rally- and poker runners can exchange views and information; antique, new or model-specific car club members are able to discuss their latest meet, their latest show or a coming meeting or event.

Or do you just need information that is objective and reliable? If so, this website is custom-designed for you. If it has four wheels (or more!) and an engine, we’re going to write about it.

CCT is your on-line magazine and community website dedicated to the enjoyment, entertainment and education surrounding car and truck enthusiasts from all over the state of Colorado. And it’s through those contributing members that CCT is able to offer a friendly, informative, thoughtful, safe and respectful environment for all CCT members.

A key part of Colorado Cars and Trucks.com is the community forums. It's in the forums where we'll be looking for your feedback and suggestions about what you want to see covered in the magazine. Colorado Cars and Trucks.com (CCT) magazine will offer feature articles, historical documents, photographs, statistics and general useful information throughout the year. CCT is also honored to provide special forums and content pages to qualifying clubs and organizations within the state of Colorado. There are a lot of great people, clubs and events across the United States and we honor their dedication and commitment to their passions. But when we started CCT we knew that a single e-publication couldn't take on everything related to cars and trucks around the country, so rather than limiting ourselves to just one type of car or truck or special interest area, we decided to focus on a geographical region. By staying focused on Colorado we can develop relationships and contacts in a broad range of subjects related to cars and trucks.

Registration and membership are free. CCT provides access to posting in the public forums, submitting and publishing automotive articles and placing classified ads. The site is supported by member businesses and organizations that purchase advertising space on the CCT website. To keep ColoradoCarsandTrucks.com on-line, members are encouraged to use the links to our advertisers on the site to visit those businesses and organizations supporting CCT.

Cascade, Colorado, – The Eastholme in the Rockies Bed and Breakfast located at 4445 Hagerman Avenue, in Cascade, Colorado is celebrating its 125th Anniversary.

Originally built as the Eastholme Hotel in 1885 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 and designated a UTE Pass landmark by the 1976 Bicentennial Committee. Eastholme is the oldest of a group of resort hotels that once flourished between scenic Manitou Springs and Cripple Creek. Authentically restored and furnished with period antiques, Eastholme was the sole recipient of the Colorado’s Historical Preservation Award for 1989.

Eastholme was built by Eliza Marriott Hewlett, a wealthy widow who migrated west from Schenectedy, New York with her two sisters, Ellen and Caroline Marriott in the early 1880’s. Hewlett astutely realizing the tourist potential of the scenic Ute Pass region, constructed the building as a resort hotel in 1885. Using craftsmen from the Pikes Peak region, they built the eight gabled hotel to reflect East Coast architecture and crowned their achievement as Eastholme Hotel. Known then as Hurricane Canyon and later renamed by Eliza as Cascade Canyon. Today we know it as Cascade, Colorado.

ADA awarded Air Force Battery Contract

DENVER-(BUSINESS WIRE)--ADA Technologies, Inc. (ADA) received a $100,000 contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory to develop an advanced Lithium-Polymer (LiPo) battery for use in miniaturized hybrid power systems for micro air vehicles (MAVs).

Rapid advancements in micro/nano technologies for MAV components, including actuators, flight control systems, sensors, and on-board data processors, are enabling a new breed of extremely small and lightweight MAVs. The tiny MAVs, some as small as insects, are in high demand due to their numerous military, commercial and scientific applications; however, progress has been hampered by the lack of a robust on-board power system.

ADA’s new hybrid-power device is based on utilizing nanostructured electrodes and environmentally friendly electrolytes to develop an advanced LiPo battery that is capable of operating in both high-power and high-energy modes, thus eliminating the need for two separate devices.

According to Wen Lu, Ph.D., ADA project manager, “Current hybrid power systems rely on pairing a fuel cell or high energy lithium-ion battery with a high power device, such as an ultracapacitor. Because two separate devices are needed to provide power, this type of system is impractical for use on MAVs where space and weight restrictions are critical.”

The lightest-weight LiPo batteries currently available don’t provide sufficient energy and power densities and impose a variety of operational limitations that are unacceptable for MAV power systems.

“ADA’s new technology will allow for substantial greater range, endurance and maneuverability for this highly volume- and mass-constrained class of vehicles,” said Doug Campbell, R&D program manager. “Specific attributes include increased power and energy densities, longer lifecycle and storage life, increased safety and reduced weight.”
