Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Executive Director Barbara Kelley announced today the appointment of Marcia Waters as the Director of Colorado’s Division of Real Estate, effective October 15, 2010. Waters is a 5 and a half-year veteran of the Division of Real Estate and currently serves as the Interim Director.
“Ms. Waters has been impressive in her ability to communicate well with all sectors of the real estate industry, and is a regulator who takes consumer protection very seriously” said Kelley. “Marcia has a clear vision of what she wants to accomplish as Division Director, is passionate about consumer protection, and understands the dynamic nature of real estate in Colorado.”
Waters is respected by DRE staff, members of the real estate boards and commissions, legislators, and real estate industry professionals. Prior to coming to the Division of Real Estate Waters was a licensed real estate broker, and has experience in law enforcement, rising to the rank of detective.
“I am confident that Marcia Waters will be an excellent leader as the Real Estate Division Director,” said Kelley. “She will continue to be open and approachable to the industry, and will maintain her role as a stern and fair protector of the public’s interest.”
